Biden Hires Brookings Scholar Harris as Chief Economic Adviser

Vice President Joe Biden has tapped Benjamin H. Harris [QMSS Alum] to serve as his chief economic adviser, according to his office.

Mr. Harris joins the administration as Mr. Biden’s chief economist from the Brookings Institution, where he was a fellow in economic studies, the policy director of the think tank’s Hamilton Project, as well as deputy director of the retirement security project. He is seen as an expert on tax, budget, and retirement security issues.

Mr. Harris has also taught as an adjunct professor at Georgetown University and the University of Maryland.


Bowers, Fredrickson, and Panagopoulos awarded Society for Political Methodology's Miller Prize

Costas Panagopoulos (QMSS Faculty) of Fordham University, Jake Bowers and Mark Fredrickson of the University of Illinois at Urbana-Champaign, were awarded the Society for Political Methodology's 2014 Miller Prize for the best article published in Political Analysis for their article "Reasoning about Interference in Randomized Studies." The Society for Political Methodology is the methodology section of the American Political Science Association. More details are available on the SPM's website.
